Key Responsibilities of Paralegals and our Differentiation:
(1) Generative AI-Enablement:
A comprehensive curriculum based on online study support and structured online tasks, students will receive hands-on paralegal AI training and experience to leverage AI for enhanced efficiency, accuracy, and ethical practice. Key areas include AI basics, hands-on practical application exercises in legal research; document review drafting and management; e-discovery; litigation; contracts drafting; workflow integration, and a strong emphasis on ethical considerations and data security. Learning to formulate strategies for mitigating ethical and data security risks associated with using AI tools in legal work. In-depth understanding and learning of AI and GenAI tools in paralegal workflows including familiarization with the concepts of machine learning, natural language processing, algorithms, neural networks and deep learning, robotics process automation. In-depth understanding of evolving role of paralegal in the wake of rapid technology, AI and Generative AI adoption by legal industry. Learning the usage and best practices of AI and GenAI tools in documents review, e-discovery, documents drafting, legal research, litigation etc. In- depth learning and hands-on application of best practices in advanced prompt engineering. Understanding the strengths and limitations of AI and GenAI tools and learning their most efficient and relevant use cases. In-depth understanding and learning of Westlaw and its AI-enabled Westlaw Edge, as well as LexisNexis and its AI-enabled Lexis+ AI applications and processes to optimize efficiency, accuracy and innovation in their legal research work. In-depth understanding and learning of AI-enabled tools for drafting legal documents including Clio Duo, CoCouncel, ChatGPT etc.
(2) Legal Research & Analysis:
- Legal Research & Analysis through Case Law: We have incorporated the most extensive and largest database of Case Laws related to 12 Legal Specialties in our training program. Paralegals study case law to understand how legal principles are applied in real-world scenarios, develop critical thinking and analytical skills, and learn how to interpret and apply legal rules to specific facts. Case law, also known as precedent, provides a framework for consistency and predictability within the legal system by guiding judges and lawyers in future cases. The use of Westlaw and its AI- enabled Westlaw Edge, as well as LexisNexis and its AI-enabled Lexis+ AI applications and processes to optimize efficiency and accuracy.
- Legal Research & Analysis through Specialized Learning Assignments (IRAC Format): In addition to the above-mentioned case law based legal research and analysis learning, we have developed and incorporated Specialized Learning Assignments in our training program to further polish and enhance legal research and analysis skills of students. These six Specialized Learning Assignments are based on IRAC format. The learning process commences with Persuasive and Predictive Legal Writing Assignments in IRAC format, and through step-by-step guidelines culminate in drafting Memorandum and Legal Brief. This unique learning process enables students to apply these skills to undertake substantive legal work i.e. drafting Memorandum and Legal Brief.
(3) Drafting of Legal Documents:
- Specialized Learning Assignments: We have developed and incorporate Specialized Learning Assignments for drafting each type of legal document in a step-by-step process i.e. pleadings, motions, contracts, demand letters, notices, subpoenas etc.
- Sample Documents: We have developed and incorporated Sample Legal Documents in Learning Assignments with detailed guidelines for all types of legal documents to further polish and enhance the legal drafting skills of students.
- Legal Forms: We have developed and incorporated Legal Forms related Specialized Learning Assignments wherein the students use these Legal Forms to draft legal documents covering each legal speciality (Civil, Criminal, Contracts, Tort, Bankruptcy, Immigration, Intellectual Property, Family Laws etc.). These Legal Forms are based on the templates that are being currently used by federal and state courts.
- AI-Enabled Tools: The use of AI-enabled tools for drafting legal documents including Clio Duo, CoCouncel, ChatGPT etc.
(4) In-depth Learning in Legal Specialties:
In the legal specialties area, we have incorporated the key details and information about 14 Legal Specialties in our AI-enabled paralegal training program.
Dedicated Learning Modules: Each legal specialty is covered in detail in a separate and dedicated Learning Module, and a total of 14 legal specialties are covered in the training program.
- Family Law Module: In addition to these 14 legal specialties, in the Family Law Module, we have covered Divorce Law, Legal Separation Law, Child Support Law, Custody Law, Guardianship Law, Paternity Law and Legal Name Change Law as well, as all these laws are essential part of Family Law related cases.
- Company Law Module: In the Company Law Module, we have covered Business Law, Company Law, Antitrust Law, Securities Law, and Banking Law as well, as all these laws are essential part of Company Law related cases.
- Tort Law Module: In the Tort Law Module, we have covered Child Injury Law, Class Action Lawsuits, Defamation Law, Insurance Bad Faith Law, Legal Malpractice Law, Medical Malpractice Law, Motor Vehicle Accident Law, Premises Liability Law, Workplace Accident Law, and Workers Compensation Law as well, as all these laws are essential part of Tort Law related cases.
